HTTP 428 Precondition Required

HTTP 428 Precondition Required means the server requires the request to be conditional, e.g. with If-Match. The request contains an error or can’t be fulfilled. Retrying unchanged won’t help.

What HTTP 428 means

To prevent lost updates, an API can insist that every PUT or PATCH includes If-Match with the ETag the client last saw. Requests without it get 428. Requests whose ETag no longer matches get 412.

Retrying

No. Fix the request first; sending it again unchanged will get the same response.
