Common Random workflows
Random tools serve two different purposes. Test data should be repeatable and realistic; secrets must be unpredictable. Use a seed when a fixture needs to be reproduced, and generate passwords and keys with the security tools, which only use the browser’s cryptographic generator.
Build a test fixture
Generate mock records with the fields your schema needs, then export JSON, CSV or SQL. Add placeholder paragraphs for text fields.
- Mock Data Generator — Generate seeded test fixtures with configurable fields.
- Lorem Ipsum Generator — Generate lorem ipsum paragraphs, sentences or words.
- CSV to SQL — Turn CSV into CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements.
Pick values for a draw or sample
Generate numbers in a range with or without duplicates, or a sequence of integers to shuffle.
- Random Number Generator — Generate uniformly random integers within inclusive bounds using browser cryptography.
- Integer Range Generator — Generate exact ascending or descending integer sequences with a custom step.
- Random String Generator — Generate secure random strings from a custom alphabet, including Unicode code points.
Mock data is not anonymized data
Generated records are invented. To share real records, redact them instead and review the output for identifiers the redactor does not recognize.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a random string as a password or API key?
Use Password Generator or Secret Key Generator for credentials. They state their entropy and use the browser’s cryptographic random source.
Where are UUID and ULID generators?
Open IDs for UUID, ULID, NanoID and KSUID generators and Snowflake and ObjectId decoders.
