Common Numbers workflows
Numbers change meaning with their representation. A kilobyte is 1,000 bytes in SI units and a kibibyte is 1,024; a bit mask depends on its width and signedness; JavaScript numbers lose integer precision above 2^53, so exact tools use BigInt.
Read a flag or mask
Convert a hex value to binary, then apply AND, OR, XOR or shifts at the width your system uses.
- Number Base Converter — Convert between binary, hex, decimal and octal.
- Bitwise Calculator — Calculate AND, OR, XOR, NOT and shifts with explicit bit widths and signed views.
Report a size or quantity
Convert byte counts between SI and IEC units, or write a number out in words for a document.
- Bytes Converter — Convert storage sizes between decimal SI units and binary IEC units with exact arithmetic.
- Number to Words — Write exact integers as English words, including negative values and large magnitudes.
- Roman Numeral Converter — Convert integers to canonical Roman numerals and validate the reverse conversion.
Choose a width for negative values
Two's complement output depends on the number of bits. The same negative number has different hex forms at 8, 32 and 64 bits.
Frequently asked questions
Is a megabyte 1,000,000 or 1,048,576 bytes?
In SI units a megabyte (MB) is 1,000,000 bytes; a mebibyte (MiB) is 1,048,576. Operating systems and vendors use both, so check which one a value uses.
Where is the IP address to number converter?
Open Network. IP to number conversion sits with the CIDR calculator and port lookup.
